Blaine Husky, owner of Award Contractors Ltd.

Born and raised in Edmonton, a class of “76” graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Architectural Technology, Husky has been in the construction business 34 years.

Starting as a draftsman for a large tract homebuilder, he advanced to become chief draftsman then one of the company’s superintendents. Wanting the challenge of business and wishing to get away from only new homes, he founded Award Contractors Ltd. in 1986.

For five years, Husky was a trainer presenting CMHC (Canada mortgage and housing corporation) developed business courses to Alberta Renovators. He sat as a board member for PHBIA (Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta), which is the educational arm of the Alberta Home Builders Association.

In 1992 he initiated and chaired the Renovation Council within the Canadian Home Builders Association—Edmonton Region. This council is committed to promote professionalism in renovations within the Edmonton area, province and country. He sat as director of the board of the Canadian Home Builders Association—Edmonton Region from 1992 to 1994. Husky was also featured on HELP TV on Canadian Learning Television for a number of special presentations.

Husky continues to be an active member of CHBA and is constantly updating himself on Industry changes and new products.
